Grand Canyon River Guides has over 1,700 members who share a love for the Grand Canyon and the myriad of outdoor opportunities offered in the area. Many members are guides, but it’s not a prerequisite to join the group. Founded in 1988, Grand Canyon River Guides has over two decades of experience providing educational and environmental activities for visitors to enjoy. Some of GCRG’s most popular activities include:
- Fall and Spring Rock Training Weekend
- Publication of Boatman’s Quarterly Review
- Participation in local environmental issues
- The Colorado River Oral History Project
Grand Canyon River Guides also organizes annual guide training seminars and helps preserve the oral histories of the river runners. The organization strives to help visitors and locals learn about the river, and teach others to preserve and maintain the natural wonders of the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River. GCRG works with dozens of like-minded organizations such as River Runners for Wilderness and Grand Canyon Historical Society to preserve and promote enthusiasm for Grand Canyon outdoor activities.
