New Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours Are Perfect for Thrill Seekers

Visitors hoping for a birds-eye view of the Grand Canyon have two new options, courtesy of Las Vegas-based Maverick Helicopters. Both excursions depart from the Las Vegas Strip and promise breathtaking views of southern Nevada, Arizona, and the Grand Canyon.

The company’s Skywalk Odyssey is a four-hour helicopter tour that flies over the Las Vegas Strip, Lake Las Vegas, Lake Mead, and the Hoover Dam on the way to a landing pad at the Grand Canyon’s West Rim. Passengers get to bypass the main admission line at the Grand Canyon Skywalk, an engineering marvel that features a glass-bottom walking surface suspended 70 feet from the canyon’s edge and more than 4,000 feet above the Colorado River. The helicopter tour, including admission to the Skywalk and 45 minutes to spend at the Grand Canyon, is $489 per person.

Visitors who want to see the sights but are crunched for time can opt for the three-hour Silver Cloud Sunset tour at $389 per person. The air-only excursion dips over the Las Vegas Strip and through the Grand Canyon, and also takes in the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Lake Las Vegas, and Fortification Hill. The desert sunset and the rising lights of Las Vegas greet your return to the “Entertainment Capital of the World.” Experienced pilots also provide in-flight narration so you won’t miss a thing.
