Holiday Inn Williams

Many American travelers have come to know the Holiday Inn hotel line as a reliable brand consistently delivering a quality experience time and time again. There are no surprises here, which can be a good thing, especially if spontaneity isn’t your cup of tea. Plus, making Williams your home base during your trip to the Grand Canyon means there are other things to do after you return from your day at the Canyon including ski and play areas, Bearizona, the Deer Farm and Petting Zoo  and Elephant Rocks Golf Course.

The Holiday Inn is only a half mile from the Grand Canyon Railway, making it convenient for railway passengers to board quickly in the morning and effortlessly depart and retreat to their rooms after a long day of walking. Rooming accommodations include kings, queens, doubles and suites with Internet access, coffee makers and cable television. The suites here are an ideal option for families as they come with either a bedroom with two queen beds and a living room or a “family suite” with two separate bedrooms – perfect for a little privacy for mom and dad.

Holiday Inn Williams

Their on-site restaurant, Doc Holliday Steakhouse, provides authentic Western fare and kids eat free with a paying adult. During the peak seasons, an American buffet in the morning and live entertainment performs at night. The steakhouse is open for breakfast from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and re-opens for dinner between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

Like other area budget-friendly hotels, this is the type of property you can feel comfortable staying in, especially since most of your day is spent outside of the room experiencing the Grand Canyon or the town of Williams.

The Scoop

Reviewers tend to rate this hotel in the average range, likely due to the traffic this hotel sees each year and a staff who gets overwhelmed during the high season. Because the hotel is located just off the Interstate, some guests have complained of truck noise penetrating the walls of their rooms. Also, if you or those you are traveling with have any physical limitations, be sure to express your desire for a ground floor room when you make your reservations. There is no elevator at this hotel.

Though there is a coffee maker in every room, many guests dig the experience of walking to a nearby local coffee shop for their morning cup of joe.

Who is it good for?

Like most Holiday Inn hotels, this one is perfect for families and business travelers. Staying here won’t break the bank and provides all of the basic necessities. Only and hour’s drive to the Grand Canyon, it is close enough to get to and from rather quickly and has the added benefit of being located in an interesting, historical community.
