El Tovar

For history, proximity and comfort, El Tovar is a great choice. Located on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, it boasts stunning views, an upscale restaurant and a client list not to be beat with names like Teddy Roosevelt and Albert Einstein right at the top. A variety of room styles are available from a standard double all the way up to a suite and everything in between. Pricing varies depending on room size and of the Grand Canyon hotels, it’s not the cheapest. But if staying in style while you explore is your thing, you’ve come to the right place.

What's Good and What Could be Improved.
The convenience can’t be beat as the Grand Canyon is directly outside the entrance to this Hotel and the views from the front porch are stunners. El Tovar does have a restaurant while other lodging inside the park does not so if easy access to food is key, this is one possibility. Be careful what room or suite you are booking. They don’t all have canyon views. And know what you’re buying. While this is a better park hotel, it’s not the 5 star luxury of the Ritz. Rooms are on the small side and the feel is more cabin than Plaza.

Who is it Good for?
El Tovar is positioned as the premier lodging at the Grand Canyon South Rim. Singles, families, and friends can all find something to suit here with a broad range of choices in room size from a standard double up to suites overlooking the canyon.

Amenities: All 78 rooms have cable tv, air conditioning and a full bath; not true of every lodge. So if these comforts are important to you, better book early.
